How to Download Instagram Reels

Saveo lets you download public Instagram Reels by pasting the Reel link into the downloader. The Reel is resolved as a video, you preview it, and you save the MP4 — no Instagram login, no private-account access.

This guide shows how to get a Reel link from the Instagram app, how to download it with Saveo, what Instagram content is actually supported, and what to do when a link does not work.

Step-by-step: download a Reel

1. Open the Reel in the Instagram app or on instagram.com.
2. Tap Share below the video, then tap Copy link.
3. Open Saveo and paste the link into the Instagram downloader.
4. Press Find media and wait a few seconds.
5. Preview the video, then click Download to save the MP4.

On desktop you can also copy the URL straight from the address bar — the Reel URL contains /reel/ followed by the shortcode.

Platform-specific behavior

Instagram Reels resolve as video results: you get a preview, a size estimate, and the download button. Reels that are part of a profile you can view publicly are supported. Stories and Highlights are a separate flow — a direct Story link may resolve, but username-based Story lookup is not available yet.

Common problems

A Reel link that is not working usually means one of these: the profile or the Reel is private, the link was copied from a profile that Instagram does not serve to third-party tools, the post was removed, or the platform is temporarily blocking the request. Instagram occasionally requires a login to view content even when it looks public — in that case the downloader reports it instead of guessing.
